Mother Tree Postpartum Doula Training focuses on preparing the doula to support families after birth and helps them to integrate a newborn into the family.
The course will support the doula in developing a Postpartum Plan that fosters a clients client's personal parenting style
as the expert of their own baby and nourishes the parents through this special transition time.
This Training qualifies for DONA International Certification Step 1
What's Included
30 hour course curriculum
(IN PERSON Trainings or LIVE VIRTUAL synchronous learning--global offerings)
Educating the family on infant care
Newborn characteristics
coping skills and supporting the recovering birthing person and family
physical and psychological needs of the postpartum period and development of the newborn
The doula receives training on breastfeeding skills and support
Support of the woman with postpartum depression
Support for the partner
Fostering bonding
Multiples
Grief and loss
Importance of referrals to competent and appropriate professionals and support groups
Also this course will touch on...
the professional scope of practice of a postpartum doula
building a personal practice structure
and understanding the difference between a doula and other professions.

Postpartum Training Prerequisites
The course is designed for those that are exploring new career options, or childbirth professionals and others already offering support to new and expectant families.
Throughout the class participants will engage in exercises, activities, and discussion designed to integrate new information with personal and professional experiences. The course covers the basics of postpartum care from a doula perspective.
This fun and interactive workshop will introduce the role of the postpartum Doula. A valuable course for students just beginning their career as well as those seeking to enrich their existing Doula practice.
